Jacques Vallée is a computer scientist, venture capitalist, and UFO researcher. He is author of many books including Passport to Magonia, The Invisible College, Messengers of Deception, Dimensions, Revelations, Confrontations, Forbidden Science (in four volumes), Stratagem, and (coauthored with Paola Harris) Trinity: The Best Kept Secret.

Here he describes his investigation, with Paola Harris, of a previous unknown UFO crash that took place shortly after, and in the vicinity of the very first atomic explosion in 1945 in New Mexico. The craft was observed by witnesses for ten days while the army worked to build a road, bring in a heavy truck, and haul it away. Only in recent years have the witnesses been willing to describe what they saw. Vallée provides historical context for this unique event and also sheds light on highly classified government efforts to make sense of the artifacts retrieved from UFO crash sites.

As a child, Christian Sundberg remembered his existence before coming to earth. While that memory completely left him in his early adult life, it spontaneously returned at the age of 30 through meditation practice and a personal awakening journey. Charles Upton’s first books of poetry were published in 1968 and 1969 by Lawrence Ferlinghetti of City Light Books in San Francisco. He was then considered the youngest member of the “beat generation” as he was still in high school. He has subsequently written many books associated with the traditionalist school of spirituality including The Science of the Greater Jihad, System of the Antichrist, Vectors of the Counter-Initiation, Folk Metaphysics, Alien Disclosure Deception: The Metaphysics of Social Engineering, and Day and Night on the Sufi Path, The Way Forward for Perennialism: After the Antinomianism of Frithjof Schuon, and Findings: In Metaphysic, Path, and Lore. Here he defines spiritual metaphysics as a structured approach with both an ontology and epistemology, designed to be tested in the contemplative and ritual practices of aspirants in different traditions. Because of its practical application and testing, it differs from conventional academic metaphysics. Spiritual metaphysics always starts with the ground of being, or the divine. It differs in its cultural expression in Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, and Yoga. Nevertheless there are many similarities, such as the distinction between the personal god and the god without any attributes.

Alexander Moreira-Almeida, MD, is professor of psychiatry at the Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora (UFJF). He is founder and Director of the Research Center in Spirituality and Health – NUPES-UFJF, Brazil. He is co-editor of two anthologies, Exploring Frontiers of the Mind-Brain Relationship and Spirituality and Mental Health Across Cultures. He is coauthor of the new book, Science of Life After Death. Here he identifies the primary scientific objection to postmortem survival as physicalism, the metaphysical notion that nature is entire based on matter and energy. He points out that this common notion within academia is not a requirement of science. In fact, it has long been disputed within philosophy, going back to Plato, and is not accepted by many Brazilian psychiatrists and academics. He describes research with the Brazilian medium, Chico Xavier. He also describes research on reincarnation and on near-death experiences.

Linda shares that healing from trauma is always possible. Dreams can bring wisdom and messages from the unconscious to conscious awareness. Not all nightmares are indicative of trauma. Even frightening dreams can bare gifts. We can heal from trauma and grief by having dreams for ourselves and others or by having precognitive dreams and visitations from deceased loved ones. A person can move from post-traumatic stress disorder (PSTD) to post-traumatic spiritual growth (PTSG).

Here he describes several dreams and synchronicities that provided him with a personal window into the afterlife, particularly those involving his poetic mentor, Lew Welch, who died of a suicide. These examples illustrate his sense of how a soul might progress in the supersensible realm. He also points out that the premier metaphysician of the traditionalist movement, René Guénon, did not accept reincarnation as traditionally taught. Instead he argues that memories can persist and be transferred to individuals, a process referred to as metempsychosis. He discusses differences between traditionalist and “new age” perspectives.

William Peters, M.Ed., MFT, is a licensed psychotherapist at the Family Therapy Institute in Santa Barbara, specializing in end-of-life counseling as a means toward psycho-spiritual evolution. He is author of At Heaven’s Door: What Shared Journeys to the Afterlife Teach About Dying Well and Living Better. He is the founder and Executive Director of the Shared Crossing Project where he and his research team collect and study extraordinary end-of-life experiences through the Shared Crossing Research Initiative. He explains that experiences with the light occur in about 75% of near-death experiences (NDEs) and 25% of shared death experiences (SDEs). The light seems to be a destination in the NDE. There are more presentations of light in the SDE. The light acts as a portal or bridge that come down as cylinders. Light beings may come out of the light to greet the dying. The SDE experiencer may accompany the dying up cascades of light or observe their loved one ascend into the light. He shares ways to have a SDE with a loved one or a pet. He says that the light is synonymous with love and consciousness and is a sacred unifying source found in spiritual traditions.

He is editor of several anthologies including Beyond UFOs, and the first two volumes of A Greater Reality. He is author of The Mind of God: A Spiritual-Virtual Reality Model of Consciousness & The Contact Modalities.

Here he emphasizes his core argument that there is a unity behind UFO encounters, near-death experiences, out-of-body experiences, entheogenic experiences, mystical experiences, apports, materializations and other events associated with high-strangeness. He refers to these as “contact modalities.” Although he admits that he cannot specify the precise workings of that unity, he attributes it to “the mind of God.” He maintains that consciousness is fundamental and that what we perceive as the physical world is, in effect, a virtual realty, or a projection from a higher spiritual reality. He suggests that the best metaphor for this projection is to think in terms of Russian nesting dolls.

William Bengston, PhD, has recently completed twelve years as president of the Society for Scientific Exploration. He is author of The Energy Cure: Unravelling the Mystery of Hands-On Healing, Chasing the Cure: An Effective Alternative for Cancer and Other Diseases, and Hands-On Healing: A Training Course for the Energy Cure. He is a professor of sociology at St. Joseph’s University in New York.

Here he describes his journey of five decades practicing and researching healing techniques. Dr. Bernard Beitman, MD, is a Visiting Professor at the University of Virginia and former Chair of the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Missouri-Columbia. He is the first psychiatrist since Carl Jung to attempt to systematize the study of coincidences. John Lockley is one of the first white men, in recent history, to become a fully initiated sangoma in the Xhosa lineage of South Africa. He is author of Leopard Warrior: A Journey into the African Teachings of Ancestry, Instinct, and Dreams. John was born, into a divided Apartheid South Africa, with the mark of the sangoma on his face – a band of white birth skin around the eyes. He was serving in the South African army as a medic (during the war with Angola in the 1980s) when he had a strong, prophetic dream calling him to train as a Xhosa sangoma. He suffered from the thwasa, a severe period of ill-health that is inherent in all ancient shamanic cultures, which can only be cured through apprenticeship to a shamanic teacher. Because of the restrictions of Apartheid (which ended in 1994) it would take John seven years to find a Xhosa teacher. He returned to post-apartheid South Africa and completed a 10 year apprenticeship with a medicine woman from the Xhosa Tribe. His website is johnlockley.com.

John shares how he became a sangoma – a traditional priest and healer in the Xhosa tribe – the same tribe as Nelson Mandela and Desmond Tutu. The name he was given, Ucingolwendamba, means messenger or connector between people and cultures. A shaman is a spirit doctor of humanity who can help heal the split ­– or apartheid – between the heart and the mind, and between man and nature. He begins with a chanting meditation that calls in the great ones and ancestors to help us realize our humanity (Ubuntu) in this world and the next. He shares how to connect to your inner nature so you may connect to nature outside of yourself. He encourages everyone to develop qualities of kindness, compassion, and patience.

David Hanscom, M.D. is author of, Back in Control: A Surgeon’s Roadmap Out of Chronic Pain and Do You Really Need Spine Surgery?: Take Control with a Spine Surgeon’s Advice. Dr. Hanscom is an orthopedic complex spinal deformity surgeon who quit his surgical practice in 2019 to focus on teaching people how to break loose from the grip of chronic mental and physical pain – with and without surgery. His insights arose out of escaping from his own 15-year ordeal of suffering with severe chronic pain. As he began to share his approaches with his patients, a predictable sequence of learning evolved. Dr. Hanscom contends that the concept of self-esteem is the mother of all cognitive distortions. Self-esteem is an attempt to create stories about the self that are based on judgment and ego. These stories are often cognitive distortions that suppress normal survival reactions, such as anxiety and anger. Obsessive thought patterns or unpleasant repetitive thoughts are driven by an effort to avoid survival reactions. Neuroscience research shows that attachment to these thoughts can cause physical and emotional pain. The way toward love is by becoming aware of cognitive distortions, separating from thoughts with mindfulness, non-attachment to the ego, compassion, and nurturing joy.

Robert Bosnak, PsyA, is a Jungian psychoanalyst who graduated from the C.G. Jung Institute in Zurich in 1977. He pioneered the Embodied Imagination method, and his current interest is focused on exploring Embodied Intelligence (MQ). Here he notes that all dreams entail embodied imagination insofar as dreamers feel themselves to be in an actual place with an actual body of some sort. He describes his method of working with dreams. It entails activating a “flashback” of the dream that leads his clients and students right back into their dream experience. He describes his approach as one of radical agnosticism, insofar as he (unlike Freud or Jung) holds no particular position regarding the nature or structure of the psyche. He expresses more interest in the lived experience of the dream than its interpretation.

Michael Daw began his PhD studies the University of Northampton in March 2020. His research examines the potential link between psychic functioning, spiritual experiences, and dietary practices – especially veganism and vegetarianism, but also fasting. This work is supervised by Prof Chris Roe and Dr Callum Cooper, both previous guests of NTA. He is formerly a software engineer and has worked for twenty years in support of leading scientific research from materials science to biomedicine in three of the UK’s largest universities.

Here he shares the preliminary results of his investigations. His first study involved in-depth interviews with a group of professional psychic practitioners concerning their dietary practices and how they felt their psi abilities were influenced by both vegetarianism and fasting. Their responses were surprisingly positive. He also conducted a survey, with over 1,000 participants, in which he also found that vegetarianism and fasting correlated positively with reports of subjective paranormal experiences. In additional, he has reviewed the history of similar beliefs concerning diet that can be found in spiritual traditions throughout the world.

Here he explains that psychologists, such as Carl G. Jung and James Hillman (and himself), are interested in alchemy because it provides many useful metaphors for human transformation. He points to the history of alchemy as instrumental in our understanding of science and medicine. He discusses such concepts as the philosopher’s stone, the alchemical marriage, and purification. He expresses curiosity with regard to seemingly credible reports of transmutation of lead into gold.

David Hanscom, M.D. is author of, Back in Control: A Surgeon’s Roadmap Out of Chronic Pain and Do You Really Need Spine Surgery?: Take Control with a Spine Surgeon’s Advice. Dr. Hanscom is an orthopedic complex spinal deformity surgeon who quit his surgical practice in 2019 to focus on teaching people how to break loose from the grip of chronic mental and physical pain – with and without surgery. His insights arose out of escaping from his own 15-year ordeal of suffering with severe chronic pain. As he began to share his approaches with his patients, a predictable sequence of learning evolved. It is reflected in the self-directed action plan that he created, The DOC (Direct your Own Care) Journey. His website is backincontrol.com.

Dr. Hanscom went from being a fearless spine surgeon to depressed and suicidal. He describes his own journey out of chronic pain and anxiety. He describes anxiety as an ‘activated threat response.’ Unpleasant repetitive thoughts can keep a person in a state of threat, cause inflammation, compromise the immune system, and cause physical and emotional pain. Sustained stress can cause physical and mental disease. Repressed thoughts and emotions are more of a threat than ones that are expressed. He offers ways to lower an activated threat response by diverting thoughts, calming down the nervous system, and engaging in activities that are pleasant and enjoyable.

Stephan A. Schwartz is a columnist for the journal Explore, and editor of the daily web publication Schwartzreport.net in both of which he covers trends that are affecting the future. Schwartz has been the principal researcher studying the use of Remote Viewing in archaeology. Using Remote Viewing he discovered Cleopatra’s Palace, Marc Antony’s Timonium, ruins of the Lighthouse of Pharos, and sunken ships along the California coast, and in the Bahamas. He is the author of more than 130 technical reports and papers. He has written The Secret Vaults of Time, The Alexandria Project, Mind Rover, Opening to the Infinite, and The 8 Laws of Change.

Here he maintains that there is not sufficient discussion about the real prospects for creating superior human beings based upon genetic engineering and other technologies. He also maintains that, while such exotic solutions will become available to the very rich, the daily choices made by average human beings can also have the effect, through epigenetics, of improving the gene pool. He argues that the world will be a much better place when individuals make their choices well-being as the goal.

Charles Upton’s first books of poetry were published in 1968 and 1969 by Lawrence Ferlinghetti of City Light Books in San Francisco. He was then considered the youngest member of the “beat generation” as he was still in high school. He has subsequently written many books associated with the traditionalist school of spirituality including The Science of the Greater Jihad, System of the Antichrist, Vectors of the Counter-Initiation, Folk Metaphysics, Alien Disclosure Deception: The Metaphysics of Social Engineering, and Day and Night on the Sufi Path. Here he explains that Traditionalism is a particular version of Perennialism. It is associated primarily with René Guénon and Frithjof Schuon. It is distinct from the more heterodox approach of Aldous Huxley. Traditionalists feel that the orthodox systems of the world’s major religions afford the best possibilities for spiritual attainment. They particularly frown upon syncretism, i.e., the tendency to try and combine the best practices of diverse traditions. Frithjof Schuon, however, acknowledged that he did, indeed, practice a form of syncretism. This led Upton to attribute antinomianism to Schuon.

James Tunney, LLM, is an Irish barrister who has lectured on legal matters throughout the world. Here James Tunney expresses both appreciation and pointed criticism of the life and philosophy of Bishop George Berkeley (1865-1753). While he is considered among the top rank of philosophers, he was also a slaveholder (at least briefly) and a supporter of British Imperialism. Tunney notes that Berkeley’s version of metaphysical idealism often engenders a feeling of dizziness and disorientation among students. He expresses concern that Berkeley’s philosophy will become a tool of scientistic transhumanists.
